Creating Family Memories With Fort Magic
Posted November 15, 2018 by Fort Magic
If you are looking for new ways to spend time together as a family, we have a solution. Building forts provides hours of fun for people of all ages! Fort building is a great way to get creative with family night. We have put together some ideas so you can start making family memories with our Fort Magic building kits:
Host a Family Paint Night
One great way to spend time together as a family is to build your own painting studio! Choose from one of our fort designs or create your own. Once your paint studio fort is built, you can cover it with plastic panels for easy cleanup. You could also add in a few white fabric panels to use as canvas if you’d like.
An idea we’ve seen and loved is to use the Fort Magic fabric clips to attach a string from one end of the art studio to the other. Then, use clothespins to attach blank sheets of paper to the string. You can use this to hold the paper while your little ones create the artwork. The string is also a great way to display all of the artwork after everyone is done. You can make it more fun by having a gallery art walk afterward to show off everyone’s artistic abilities!
Make a Movie Night Themed Fort
One of our favorite fort ideas is to incorporate your fort into family movie night! For example, if you were going to be watching Finding Dory that night, you could build your fort with an underwater theme! Then, after it’s built, gather up some pillows, blankets, popcorn, movie snacks, and other necessities to put in your underwater fort. When the movie starts, everyone can cuddle up in your new fort while watching Dory’s adventure.
This is a real win-win. You provided hands-on learning as they constructed a scene from the movie, and the kids get the excitement of watching a movie while in a fort. Forts make everything magical!
Create a Fort Around Their Bed
This is one the kids will love. Start by placing sticks on the floor around their bed to measure out the space needed, then start building from the ground up. After you are done, cover the structure with sheer fabric and a strand of lights.
Bedtime will be a breeze after this – they’ll actually look forward to sleeping in their new bed fort! And don’t forget to read a few bedtime stories to them in their fort bed. They’ll fall right to sleep.
Fun for the Entire Family
Another reason we love fort building is that it creates teamwork. Your kids will become best friends as they work together on a project. We also haven’t yet figured out who likes the forts more: the kids or the family pet. When you are putting survival necessities in your fort, don’t forget the dog treats! A fort is a great place to pretend you are on a mission with your sidekick, Fido.
Create a Reading Nook
One of our most popular designs for a reading nook is the Teepee. It’s easy to construct and can be covered with anything when you use our special fabric clips. Add soft blankets to the bottom and a couple of oversized pillows or bean bags and your kids will have their very own reading nook! Of course, lots of lights are a necessity for the perfect reading nook.
Your family can even create a new tradition based on this fort! Try to set aside 10-15 minutes at the same time every day to read to your child in your new reading nook. You’ll all enjoy the memories you made in your nook for years to come.
