A Science Fort To Explore the Creatures of the Deep

There are many ways that building an ocean fort can serve as an educational and fun tool for your child and family. One way that you can have both the fun and the learning experience with your ocean based fort is by transforming it into an aquarium and an aquatic life science center. The beautiful blues, the calm rippling waves plus the prestige of science and the environment of curiosity and wonder will make for an exciting, creative, and teachable play time for your child.

Encourage the kids to build a submarine fort where they can pretend they are underwater watching the fish swim by!

Prepare for this play time by doing some research on specific animals that live in the ocean deep. Make a list of all your child’s favorite creatures as well as some interesting new ones. From there, you can draw pictures, or cut out fish shapes. Tape them to the walls of your child’s fort so that it looks like the tanks at an aquarium.

Your kids can give tours in their science facility to their friends, explaining the different animal species and how they live their lives in the ocean depths. And don’t forget your lab coat!

Inside the Mermaid’s Castle Perhaps your child wishes to live with the fish and dolphins instead of just observing them. An ocean inspired fort also makes the perfect mermaid’s castle! Beautiful, coral colored, mysterious and majestic, the mermaid’s castle is a mythical place that houses the most beautiful and exciting mermaid friends of the sea!

Your child’s mermaid dreamland fort is the perfect place for dress up and adventure! Make a glittering mermaid tail and let your child wear a flowing wig. Get creative with face paint so that your mermaid matches the beautiful blues of the ocean waters. Don’t forget to add extra toys, snacks, and entertainment with friends!

Include stuffed fish and dolphins to be your child’s ocean pals in their castle. When your children are with their friends, they can share mermaid themed sea snacks, play mermaid tag, and sings songs. They will also have a blast communicating with plush dolphins, whales, and sharks.

Plus, your child can learn about the responsibility of keeping our oceans clean and how pollution can negatively impact healthy sea life. Maybe they and their mermaid friends can save the day! There is no limit to what you and your child can imagine in their mermaid castle.

A Treasure Fort Getaway

A treasure fort getaway is ideal for pirates who long to sail the open seas. Discuss historical sunken ships that held great riches. Tell ghost stories of pirate ships that appear in the fog and disappear just as quickly. Build a seafaring boat fort that is ideal for sailing the ocean and hiding the loot they find during their imaginative journeys.

For your child, you can create a vest, make an eye patch, and craft a hook for their hands. Purchase a treasure chest toy or use a wooden or cardboard box where your pirate child will store all the riches from their high seas adventures! Fill the chest with toy gold coins and shiny necklaces with jewels. Or you can simply fill it with their favorite toys to let them know the things like best are the true treasures in this world. Craft pretend swords from cardboard and aluminum foil for guarding their treasures!

Create a treasure map with goodies for the kids to find. No pirate’s quest is complete without one! All the items they find can be hidden in their ship fort. Soon their treasure chest will be overflowing with kid-friendly pirate’s loot. Ocean forts are a great opportunity for learning and teamwork for your child and your family.
